We are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of AA members from interstate and overseas to the convention, where they will join our home-grown members celebrating recovery and sobriety in the Fellowship.
Perth is a great venue for the 2018 Convention with an energetic AA community and plenty of opportunities to enjoy fellowship and serenity with a backdrop of beautiful beaches, spectacular sunsets and W.A.’s welcoming and relaxed lifestyle. “Just for today” is the chosen theme for the convention, reflecting the belief that recovery from alcoholism is a daily reprieve.
The Convention will run over four days and is to be held at the Rendezvous Scarborough Hotel, a four-star hotel with top quality conference suites with one of Perth’s best surf beaches and a beachside café strip on its doorstep.
A public awareness meeting is scheduled for the Thursday evening. Doors open from 6pm and the meeting will start at 7pm.
An invitation to attend the public meeting will be issued to professionals working in the drug and alcohol field, including representatives from treatment centres, corrections and government health departments. We are also inviting Members of Parliament, the media and church communities.
Members of the general public are also welcome to attend.

A Note to the Media; Respecting Our Anonymity
We seek your continued support by presenting AA members:
- Only by first name
- Using no recognizable images of our members.
Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of our fellowship and assures our members that their recovery will be kept confidential. Often, alcoholics will avoid any source of help which might reveal his or her identity.
Alcoholics Anonymous is not affiliated with any other organization, although many have adapted AA’s 12 Steps for their own use. AA is self-supporting, declining any outside contributions; and we are non-professional, offering only the voluntary support of one alcoholic helping another.
Throughout the world, favorable media coverage has been a principal means of bringing alcoholics into our fellowship. You have helped make this possible, and for that we thank you. We can arrange interviews with AA members.
